5 tips to protect your e-commerce during Black Friday

.

Brazil has more than 1.59 million websites targeting e-commerce, according to BigData Corp. During Black Friday, with the increase in transaction volumes, there is also a significant increase in scam attempts by cybercriminals.

“As these are large-scale purchases and in a short period, the volume of accesses grows and hackers take advantage of various methods to steal data or purchase products, as it is more difficult for the shopkeeper to detect fraud in a timely manner”, says Alexandre Morelli, Head of Cybersecurity at NAVA Technology for Business, a company that provides business and technology services and solutions.

Check out five tips from Morelli below to protect your business:

Qualify your link

Make sure your URL is encrypted to make it harder for the attacker to collect data. If you have the term HTTPS before your store link, you will be more secure, but if you don’t, contact your hosting support, or your IT team, to provide that security for the consumer.

Host in the cloud

Having website data accessible in the cloud can guarantee more security for your online store, because when an attempt is made to attack Deny of Services (DoS), cloud providers usually have subsidies to eliminate this type of attack, so check the availability of the cloud service with the hosting company that your e-commerce uses.

Protect yourself from phishing and DOS

A scammer can try to steal the customer’s money, personal data and even credit card number using an attack called Phishing. It is also possible to take down a legitimate website and impersonate the official website with a fake page. In this case, make sure your hosting platform is protected against DoS (Deny of Services) attacks.

Check your Wallet

Check with the company or bank that provides payment services in your e-commerce that the security protocols are in place.

Log Verification

Have all internal systems, websites, hyperlinks and online structures monitored according to each access attempt. NAVA Technology for Business monitors every attempt at improper registration or entry in a different place than usual, this makes your entire virtual environment have one more security barrier in relation to attempts of cybercriminal attacks.
