how to protect your business in 2023

.

Just before the end of the year, the concerns of company managers are focused on planning for 2023. With the emergence and accelerated development of new technologies and ways of working, one of the main concerns of entrepreneurs is related to cybersecurity, since over 75% of global organizations believe they will experience cyberattacks within the next 12 months. The data are from the Global Cyber Risk Index, a survey carried out by Trend Micro.

Therefore, information security is everyone’s concern today. That’s what Sandro Zendron, CEO of Microservice, a company specializing in cybersecurity solutions, says.

“Brazil is one of the countries that suffer most from attacks on information security. From January to June this year alone, there were 31.5 billion attempted crimes, a 94% increase over last year. With the evolution of hardware and software technologies, criminals are also updating and improving their techniques, trying to circumvent all forms of security available”.

Recently, for example, Uber was attacked by an 18-year-old hacker who had been studying hacking techniques for some time. The criminal claimed that he attacked the company because its security was too weak and ended up compromising several internal systems of the transportation application giant.

On the other hand, the wide dissemination of these cases of data leakage and the companies’ commitment to the application and compliance with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD) has made people and companies more aware. Gartner estimates that by the end of 2024, around 75% of the world’s population will have their personal data protected by modern privacy regulations.

In this way, some trends are designed for the future. One of them is “zero trust”, or zero trust security. The model follows the philosophy that no person or device, inside or outside an organization’s network, should be granted access to connect to IT services or systems until it is authenticated and verified on an ongoing basis.

According to Gartner, the probability is that 60% of organizations will adopt zero trust by 2025. “This is a security principle that requires a cultural change and clear communication to link it to business results and thus achieve the expected benefits. ,” says Zendron.

Studies also point out that companies should start using cybersecurity risk as the main determinant when closing commercial contracts. Microservice, as a specialist company, believes that few security and risk leaders monitor third-party activities for cybersecurity and exposure to failure.

“Looking to the near future, the hope is that consumers themselves will demand that information security, or inadequacy, or lack thereof, is decisive for doing business with third parties”.

Technology and its possibilities open many doors for innovation, inclusion, talent development and diverse businesses. But unfortunately it also opens up loopholes for malicious users to take advantage of and profit from the black market by selling, exchanging, exposing innocent people’s personal information or even failing in systems that generate inappropriate and unexpected advantages for criminals.

“The fight for information security is ongoing and will not recede. Threats will only multiply and it is up to the manager to always be aware of best practices to keep the company’s data and that of its customers and employees always protected, using the best tools and solutions”.
