Airbus is strengthening and expanding its cybersecurity activities across the group. The company will showcase its cybersecurity solutions at the International Cybersecurity Forum (FIC) from 7 to 9 June 2022 in Lille (France).

With the increase in cyber threats, the increasing digitization and connectivity of its products and systems, cyber security has become a strategic and crucial component of the development of the future of Airbus. The company has put in place a series of actions and investments to develop and enrich its cybersecurity capabilities and knowledge, thus ensuring the best possible protection for the company, ecosystem and customers.

Strengthening Airbus’ cybersecurity

Airbus has decided to merge the cybersecurity services activities into a single organization that started its activity on the 1st of June. The new organization focuses on cybersecurity services, especially in the industrial sector, with more than 1,000 experts based in France, Germany, the UK and Spain. It will provide a unique global service offering to protect the Group and meet the needs of national authorities and commercial customers, including critical infrastructure.

In addition to these services, cybersecurity teams focused on large projects will be able to develop more business knowledge for defense and space programs, and customers. 400 experts will contribute to major integration projects in France, Germany, the UK and Spain especially in cutting-edge technologies such as cyber defense and cryptography.

Additionally, Airbus recently acquired DSI, a German-based company certified by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), which provides encryption and communication systems for the space, air, naval and land sectors.

Regarding cybersecurity products, Airbus launched an investment plan of tens of millions of euros – mainly focused on R&D activities – in the subsidiary of Stormshield. The company brings together 400 experts and offers data, endpoint and network security solutions, will further enhance its capabilities and product line performance, and accelerate the development of its international activities.

Within a fast-paced industry where employee turnover is high, Airbus continues to invest in talent, having recruited several hundred cybersecurity experts in recent years and anticipating a growing need for cyber skills at all levels. Among many initiatives in this field, Airbus has launched its own course in cybersecurity. The first 25 students will begin their cybersecurity course in September 2022.
